Try both and see what works best. You should replace your hop up rubber once per year anyways (depending on usage), but try the soft and see how it works for you, then try hard and compare. Soft will wear out faster, but if it works better then it's not a problem to replace when needed.

get a soft rubber and throw in a Shredder Concave Spacer (SCS).

I am in the process of testing... the hard rubber is inaccurate and I am going to test out the soft.

I just tested the soft rubber...its more accurate but inconsistent..any ideas why? Should i look at another hop-up unit, rubber or spacer? Maybe i will go with a SCS and i would be alright? Right now, i am making a seal with the gearbox with some elastics. Could this be the reason why it is inconsistent?

what hop-up unit are you using?
any internal upgrades in the gun? are you sure you have a proper seal? elastics doesn't sound like it would do a good job |

I am using a prowin AK hopup
I have a sp125 spring and a 591mm 6.04mm barrel from element I am getting a good seal now. I just had to push the unit it further. I just put back in the stock hop up unit with the soft rubber and the spacer. The accuracy still isn't there. I think I need to get this spacer. Or, there is something wrong with the unit. I am not sure

inconsistency with airsoft guns can be the result of the following:
Shitty spring (inconsistent FPS = inconsitent accuracy) Poor airseal (either with the hop-up unit, air nozzle, cylinder head etc) TB inner barrel (This will affect accuracy consistency, but not FPS consistency) When you say the accuracy isn't there, are you chronying the gun, or just shooting it to check for accuracy inconsistencies? |

I am shooting for accuracy. I dont own a chrono. Do you think that the SCS could fix the problem with my accuracy? My seals are good and my spring is irregular pitch..

Start by getting a chrony. If you want to tune the performance of your gun you need to get the proper tools, you can't just go around slapping in random parts in the hopes you'll find a magical combo. Nobody can tell you what will fix the issue until you find out what the actual problem is. SCS, tightbore etc won't do shit for you if the problem is sealing between the piston head and cylinder, crappy/inconsistent sealing with the nozzle. You say your seals are good: how do you know? How much deviation are you getting? 1fps? 5? 10? 20?

Thankyou Drake!
The more I look for aid on this sight the more I come across people who want to 'customize' and spend less than $50 on the job! It is not impossible but really $50 is what you need to spend on tools before you get a chrono and then you can order some parts.

well for accuracy, your first problem is your TB. Element sucks. It sucks hard.
Get prometheus. If you have element internals, there is your second problem. They too suck hard. Get prometheus or modify internals, and for TB, prometheus or KM. PDI is good, but they are pricy (no better than prometheus or KM) and madbull are decent. Still, Prometheus or KM are your best bet for both performance and cost. |

I found the hard bucking worked great in my spr , it fires around 380 fps. Im using .3gr bb's and up as I want the accuracy.
I noticed the OP said he was looking for accuracy but never posted what bb weight/type he was using? |
