TM MEU mag pins stuck
I'm trying to install high flow valves into my mag but the top two pins on my TM MEU mag refuse to budge. I'm using an alan key that has the circumference that is smaller than the circumference of the pin. How do I get them to move?

Try the other side?
One end of the pins has a rough surface, and it wont come out through the side opposite to that. What else are you using than just an allen key? You'll need some sort of hammering object. |

I'm holding the alan key with my hands and pressing it as hard as I can. The mag is on top of a piece of plastic so it is not in contact with the surface I am working on, giving the pin room to slide out.

Oh you definitely gotta hammer it. Pins on mags rarely come out without hammering, I've found.

How did you set the mag up so you could hammer away? |

I personally put it atop my legs, or on carpet. Once the pin starts to come out, it will come out easily (generally).
I've put them in a vice before though (with rubber faces/buffers. not metal. that could easily damage the mag).

Yeah dude, pushing on it isn't going to do anything. You need to hammer.

Should I use a vise grip to clamp the mag together while I hammer or something?

Wait a second...
Why are you disassembling the mag to put in a hiflow valve? |

Solon, I already told you... you need a valve key to remove and install a high flow valve. Why are you removing pins?!

No offense...but HAHAHAHA...you've got a thread for how to punch out a pin?!?!....to put in a Hi flow valve?!?!?
Slono...(quite serious) you should stop and get someone to show you what to do. If this is for getting ready for CAPS...a lot of guys have a valve key and it takes just a minute a mag to swap the valves (with no damage). I usually have my in my kit bag. Don't bust your stuff...once a mag leaks from being mangled...you stand a good chance of it not being fixable. |

What's funnier, is that Solon was at my place 2 days ago to pick up the mags and valves, and he asks me: "what do I need to install these valves?"
I show him a valve key, and a brand new one that I have in a package, and say "you need one of these bad boys. I'll get you pricing later... haven't looked it up yet." And he says "okay", and goes on his way... Solon, you can disassemble the mag to all of it's individual parts, pins & o-rings, but you STILL need a valve key to take the valve out of the shell. LOL. |

Now...not to be too hard on the guy. My take is that his heart's in the right place but he's just new to it all. Encouraging to see him run around getting all the bits he needs (it's all just for CAPS...I hope you cut him a good price
![]() We've traded a couple of PMs as well about how many mags are needed...why/when you'll need more mags than the minimum. Did he need hiflows in each mag or was there some other way to boost the power...etc... Good questions all in all. Hope we'll see him at the next CAPS session. |

Ya, he hopped on to my recent sale and got everything at a great price.
He'd better be coming out to play, after the amount of PMs we've traded on this subject... |

Edit: I made my own valve key from a Mastercraft 4" Tack Lifter. I widened the space between the prongs, and thinned them out as well. Here's what it looks like now. Please disregard the dummy expression I have on my face =). Last edited by Slono; October 13th, 2009 at 21:25.. |
