G&G cocking handle fix
hey there folks... I don't say alot on here, this is my first time piping up outside the bought sold section. Just took delivery of a G&G GR16 R4.
When I went to cycle the cocking handle, it just slid out. After talking to the seller, he said this was how G&G's are built... I was unaware of this at the time, but that's my lack of research. anyways, I was wondering if there's some way to rig up G&G guns so that the cocking handle will actually spring back (preferable an official way, some aftermarket part, not something jerryrigged) anyways, yeah. just looking for advice.

Since when to cocking handles come right out? I'm not familiar with G&G in particular, but to me, they shouldn't come out. They should be held in with a spring and pop back when released. Sounds to me like you either have a broken spring or the plastic retaining clip that holds the cocking handle in the gun is broken.
When you pulled the handle, does the ejection port cover open?

I have the same gun. The cocking handle shouldn't slide out.
No, the ejection port cover doesn't open when I pull the cocking handle.

How is the port held shut and opened on a G&G?

on G&Gs the dust cover is either magnetic or just a simple spring, (must be held down manually), and the G&Gs Ive handled have no apparent mechanism to retain the charging handle once released other than the spring, so yours should have at least a spring, though the spring does, admittedly, little good, as once the charging handle is racked the spring stretches out and is useless. But you should at least have a spring. you got gyped, son.

Never opened a G&G M4 personally, but if it's anything at all like TM/CA/G&P, then this little spring is what you need:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Cocking-Handle-S...742.m153.l1262 BTW, I heartily endorse this seller. I've used him on a couple of occasions for some hard-to-find bits.

Have done business with him as well. Great guy to deal with, ships fast and his shipping prices to Canada are pretty reasonable.

I see. It's an inverted spring that holds the port closed rather than the spring throwing it open. That makes sense. I was wondering how it worked, either CA style (magnet) or TM style... So there you have it. The seller outright lied to you telling you the charging handle comes out normally. You're either missing the spring or the plastic part that holds the spring is broken. Your best bet would be to just remove the uppper receiver and check it out yourself. Not sure if G&G cracks open like a TM when you remove the rear pin or if you need to remove the front pin to slide the receiver off. Either way, it should be fairly easy to remove it.

okay, got the upper reciver off (she's a slider) didn't seem like there was anything in there for a spring to be attached to, except for one little tiny screw, but that did not do the trick. I'm thinking maybe whoever had this gun gave 'er a yank and streched the hell out of it and just said f it. just wondering if it was my seller or someone before him.
so yeah, no spring or plastic peice seen. also, seemed like the upper reciver didn't want to come off with the cocking handle in. had to pull it out first.

With the sliding upper receivers, usually you need to cock them while removing the upper, because the little 'tabs' on top of the mechbox will lock against the bottom of the charging handle. In your case, with the missing spring, you can just remove it.
But bottom line is that it is missing the spring. In the inside of the upper receiver, there should be a little screw that the spring attaches to, and a little hook on the charging handle that the the other end attaches to to hold it in the gun. The spring is a $5 part at most, so it's not really a big deal to replace,

Here - this is what it looks like in the upper receiver of my CA M15. I suspect yours should be attached exactly the same way.
