MGC Colt Officer rebuild
I finally got around to putting together my old MGC Officer. I completely tore it down, refinished the slide and frame with 1000 grit wet sand paper, and installed a bunch of parts I have collected over the years. I have put some scratches on it since it was refinished but it still looks good. I have not decided what to do about the worn paint on the stock metal parts yet.
-Stock aluminum outer barrel polished -Refinished slide and frame -Refinished (real) wood grips (Japanese) -Guarder stainless steel chamber with -Barsto .45 ACP- markings -Custom high flow release valve -Sheriff brass floating valve -Guarder polycarbonate loading nozzle -Guarder enhanced firing pin -Guarder airtight magazine rubber -Custom blowback o-ring (tuned for green gas) -Custom recoil buffer -new chamber seal -new hop up rubber -weight 645g. I need a better camera Last edited by weslee; October 8th, 2007 at 00:50.. Reason: forgot about some parts |

Are the slide and frame painted? I am trying to figure out how to refinish the aluminum slide a frame on my M1911 and your's looks exactly how I want it.
Nicely done. |

How well did the Guarder parts (intended for WA, I presume) fit the MGC? I have a Defender 45 myself, the frame is fine but I'd love to drop in a new chamber, barrel and slide. But when I was comparing the parts with my WA they looked like they'd need some modification, which I didn't wanna try on my WA parts (used in my WA)

You should be able to wet sand the aluminum even if it is painted. Quote:
If you are not sure if it is "MGC" or "NEW MGC" check the frame for "UNDER LICENCE of W.A. MAGNA BLOWBACK" markings. Last edited by weslee; October 3rd, 2007 at 03:36.. |

One of my main concerns was with the chamber; it looks like I'd have to modify the pin holes on the tabs (where the inner barrel/hopup get attached), and I'm not sure if that would end up fitting properly after. Did you have to perform that modification?

Drake, you are lucky the mags fit. All the WA mags I came across are a little too wide for my MGC.
Yes, the stock retaining pin is larger and will not fit in to the guarder steel chamber. Just find yourself a 2mm drill bit and cut it to length you need. |
