SR-25 sling

After carrying the SR-25 around for a bit, i noticed something. It's heavy... very heavy^^

What type of sling do you recommend for that type of gun? It's pretty damn long, even more with the suppressor on (1118mm).

Also, where can i find a good front sling RIS adapter to attach the front part of the sling?

Like always, thx

What you probably want is something like this or this.

And keep the sling simple.

But honestly, slinging it doesn't relieve you from the weight much (my SAM-R gets pretty heavy, too), it's something you get used to with time/practice.

Did you have body armor on?

Will a QD sling swivel detach too easily, by error or get too loose??

I am afraid those sling swivel might always be detaching themselves from the base after a while.

I had one of the G&P QD sling mounts. The mount is good, but the swivel is a cheap POS. Be prepared for rust. After I switched it out for a real steel one that came with my VLTOR I had no problems.

But no, it wont come out unless you want it to. Of course you might have a problem with the sling twisting especially if you have 2 QD attachments like that.

I use the King Arms ones, haven't had any problems with them (they're made of aluminum, so no rust. One more thing I like about KA, they actually specify on the package what their shit's made of... 6061 T6 AL in this case).

Anyway, the QD swivels you really need to press down on that button and then pull the swivel off to remove it. It seems almost impossible it would come off by itself/by accident, since you need to push down while pulling.

The KA ones also seem compatible with the real steel (I'm guessing G&Ps are, too). I was able to use a QD swivel in my [real] VLTOR stock just fine.

Oh yeah, and like Adrian mentioned, if you're using two twisting can become a problem; you'd want a 3 pt setup in that case, so that the swivels can't freely turn 360°.

Don't get lazy an rely on a sling, weapon should always be up in your arms at the ready.. its airsoft, so you aren't going to be really working on anything, etc an need your hands free so you really don't need a sling.

Real steel parts (sling swivels, scopes, etc) are WAY better than airsoft made ones, and often times cheaper too.

Regarding slings, I forget who said it, but "A sling is to a rifle, as a holster is to a pistol" or something like that. Slings are super useful, at least with a rifle, more so if you know how to use it. Not only does it allow you to carry the rifle or hold it while having both hands free, but if you set it up correctly it is paramount to shooting accurately because it helps form a much more stable/solid shooting platform..

I have the similar BFG Vicker sling. It's a damn good system with a QD mount off a forearm rail and running the webbing through a rear receiver sling plate it doesn't twist at all. Much better than the single points I ran over the years.

In the real world that may be true, but in airsoft (for guns like what are being discussed here) I need a sling so I can use a pistol and not blast someone 10 feet away with a 400 FPS gun.

Nicely put. A lot easier to pick my handgun up and have my sling hold my SR-25 thats shooting at 420fps.

And to Stalker, 100% correct (like always lol), a properly set up sling is very, very useful.

To Mikel, having a sling is not being lazy (if anyting, not having one would be because you want to save some money...). I'm not sure how you got that one figured out, but when looking at real soldiers, they almost all have a sling for their guns. I even saw American snipers with slings on their snipers.

Random Pictures of Soldiers, ALL have a sling for their rifles:

And also, not sure how you think that i will not need my hands in Airsoft... on those 2 days games, id sure love to take 5 mins to eat something or use the radio... try holding a SR-25 at the ready with one hand for a extended amount of time... not pleasant at all.

Ronan, I'am a real soldier... in an Infantry unit.. I kinda know a little what its like to carry a weapon, using a sling, etc.

Also, I was talking about Airsoft not the Military where we have to use our hands to work on equipment, handle detainees, etc, etc. Yes there are times when you need a sling, but for the majority of time in Airsoft(least with my experiance) you don't need a sling.

Ronin you can use a radio with one hand.. if its a FRS or you got a handset/headset for a radio.. also you really shouldn't be eating while on patrol, especially if its something that requires you too use both hands. If you are eating back at your own area, or off the field you can put the weapon down.

also, this guy has no sling on his rifle, least I didn't see one.
http://www.bottomlineradio.net/images/soldier.jpg

For using a sling for shooting, yea if you got time to aim your shoots, get the sling tight, etc yea its good, but again from my experiance you don't have the time, an you want to be flexible, an plus most engagements are at pretty short range so not really a big deal.

Drake, yea thats a good point wasn't thinking about the pistol thing, but I was mostly just focusing on what was being said (SR25 is heavy). I just got the idea of him walking around in the field carrying the rifle slung because the rifle was starting to get too heavy.

One last thing Ronan, don't take a jab at me can call me cheap(dunno if that was meant, but it kinda sounded like it).

You don't see my point Mikel.

SR-25 = Heavy (heavier than my friend Alienware gamming laptop... and that thing is HUGE).
Sling = Makes my life a bit easier, and i see a lot of soldiers with them.

I never said i was gonna eat when i'm on Patrol, thats a 'shoot me plz cuz i'm eating and not paying attention and can't use my gun as fast'.

When it comes down to it, a sling will do a couple things for me, help me carry my SR-25 and reduces the chances it falls on the ground. It gives me the opportunity to let go of my SR-25 and use my handgun for close range shooting (i think people will like that, they will prefer being shot by my a handgun and not a 420fps at close range). Lastly it can help me steady shots when i'm not on the ground, sure the Hero Tactical Grip is nice... but having more than one option can be nice.

Also, i didn't mean to call you cheap, just as i'm sure you didn't mean to call me lazy.

Look where the stock of the gun is, theirs the end of a black sling.
