DIY Pressure switches

Does anyone have some links on how to make your very own pressure switches for flashlights? Thanks!

but they're not working anymore. I'm pretty sure the process was just small pushbutton + foam + heatshrink tubing.

Does guardian still visit's this forum? If so I'll pm him, to ask for full detail and pciture to make one. I don't quite know what is a "picked up a PC board switch "(Im a little computer part illiterate...).

He is referring to the same switch in the PC keyboard that you are typing with. I believe it was a replacement type switch available at electronics stores. Ask for low profile, "normally open" (meaning when "closed" it conducts electricity when you squeeze it, yet breaks contact when released) momentary switches, and choose the one that best suits your needs and assembly abilities.

Of course, you could solder your wires to two small pieces of flat copper, cut a piece of sponge to separate the two, and cover it loosely with heatshrink, 'electrocution' tape, etc. Foam forms a crushable dielectric that springs back to shape, yet still allows the two plates to make contact to complete (close) the circuit.

Yup I’m still here, just out and about in the summertime heat!

Ernest - I emailed ya the original pics and a brief description. Let me know if you have a specific question. It’s straight forward if you have the parts… and I added the same switch to my surefire which works great also.

I did try the copper bar and foam thing CDN_Stalker suggests but found it problematic. You just can’t beat electronic manufacturing for robust mini switches.

Guardian you should start a thread and ask for a sticky, because this is very very useful. Oh ya one question, would this work if I make it longer for my mp5 tactical foregrip?
