Shotgun silencers are actually a lot more popular than it would seem.

Any gun can be suppressed, regardless of size, projectile velocity, etc.
So long as the supressor is of sufficent volume to capture the combustion gases, it's all good. For a field gun, a supressor may be the size of a Greyhound bus though. Simple physics. But I digress. Any device that alters or reduces the report of a firearm is a prohibited device in Canada. Manufacturing one is not smart, nor is using one on any firearm.

Despite Ronan's freakout/acute paranoia episodes tonight ('you been smoking or something?), possession of replicas actually IS legal at this time; just keep it out of public view, practice safe transporation and if a situation does arise where the cops will come across it calmly explain to them what they're about to come across.
As for the original topic, making a silencer is bad, but lately fake ones have been allowed in; not saying it's the case, but if we look at how they're handled in the US, faux suppressors are allowed if they're only for looks. Not to mention that made of plastic or thin aluminum, the muzzle pressure would cause them to blow up if someone tried to use them on a real gun.

Not Eye Safe, Pretty Boy Maximus on the field take his picture!

To be more specific, I've only seen shotgun silencers used with slug shot munition.

Way to group all cops into the same group. And a "stupid cop" would be far more likely to sieze a replica than realising what it's actually for.
