Too much??

I have a brand spanking new CA M15a4 rifle (350fps) and I'm trying to find out which battery to buy for it. I am looking to get around 4000mah for 24hr play.

My question is: will a 9.6v 4000mah battery chew up the gearbox? If that is the case, will I be safe with an 8.4v?

I have dropped in a friend's 9.6v 4500mah battery to test it out.. After a midcap mag of 4-5 round bursts I felt the motor grip heating up a bit (thankfully the new CA's have the heat sink). Is this a sign that the battery is too much?

I have only used mini's up to this point, so any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You don't need a 9.6v.....

With the extra mAh in the huge battery you're getting, it will speed up your ROF a bit.
8.4v is definitely good enough.

8.4v will have a lower ROF than a 9.6v so the wear and tear will take longer. I don't think a 9.6v would be too much though, 350FPS isn't that high. If your worried about chewing up the mechbox I would replace the notorious shitty CA mustard yellow Piston in your mechbox. Motor's get hot when used, your going to have to replace the pinion gear on motor at least twice before I would start worrying about the motor dying and if it does go its a good excuse to buy a Systema Magnum motor.

I used to run an 8.4v 1200mah battery and then upgraded to a 9.6v 1200mah. Have checked for intenal wear and my gun has about 30,000 rounds through it. Not all with the 9.6v but still a nice chunk. Very little to none is present. SO i think an 8.4v 4,000mah would probably be enough but idk about an 9.6v 4,000mah battery that's quite a lot of juice. Assuming it's a large type correct?
And yes it's normal for the grip to get warm when shooting.
And i'm not so sure about how bad the stock CA pistons are nowadays. They seem to be very good now, in the old versions not so much.

The grip warming up thing is normal with a high power output I would guess. I've never had that in my other M4's with mini's.

The ROF with the large battery was insane. It looked like a fire hose of ammo coming out the front. I'm sure that a large 8.4 would still offer very acceptable rof at that mah. Afterall, I run 85rnd mids so having to use 6 mags in a firefight may be overkill on the ROF side of things.

I was worried that with the motor heating up after only 100rnds that there was a problem.

I will bring it to the 28th FR game to chrony it in, maybe triple check with the guys there.

Thanks guys, good feedback as always.
