Systema Complete Mechboxes
Somebody help me out here. There are two models listed:
GB16V25R-12-0 M16A2, SR16-M4 M120 Spur Gear Set / Torque Up Teflon Cylinder Set AND GB16R-12-0 M16A1, M16VN M120 Spur Gear Set / Torque Up Teflon Cylinder Set What's the difference? The A2 and A1, as well as the SR16 and the VN are all rear-wired....I don't get it. Anyone help me here? |

Maybe it's the size of the cylinder port. Do all those guns have identical barrel lengths?
Other than that, I can't think of any reason.

This is the M16A2. It's got the more modern round foregrip. This is the M16A1 also known as the Vientam/VN model. It's got the classic triangle foregrip. Both are wired to the rear. As for why there are two different gearbox sets... I really don't know. As far as I know, both M16s use the same gearbox version so maybe it has something to do with the motor that comes with the set?

1 - The nozzle from both gearbox are different.
2 - The rear of the gearbox - the SR16/A2 one allow upper reciever quick takedown, but not the A1/VN one. |

Yes, I'm at a complete loss here, knowing that the only real differences in the two guns (or four guns really) are cosmetic as far as airsoft is concerned.

The M16A1/VN is one of the earliest ver.2 mechboxed guns. I haven't seen one personally but I have been told that the take down and front end assembly are drastically different so I guess there may be some differences with the mechbox as well.

I'm looking for a mechbox to throw into the HurricanE Shrike. Which one do I need then? My understanding is that the HurricanE kits don't tear down the same way. |

If this is the product you are getting:
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=19029 then RedWolf Airsoft mentioned that it is for M4 / M16A2 series. Since I am not sure how you route the battery, so if you will route the battery at the front, use a M4 gearbox, if you route the battery at the rear, get a M16A2/SR16 gearbox. Even, you can try email RedWolf Airsoft and ask for confirmation. |

JAVP's got it right.
The M16A1/VN is a fairly different beast from all modern Marui M16/M4 variants - as far as compatibility goes, the nozzle is different from the other variants. Beyond that, there are two other M4/16 variants in the Systema complete gearbox lineup: M4/S-System/RIS and M16A2/SR16 The difference, being that the former is for front-power, and the latter is for rear power. If you're re-wiring new wiring for full uninterrupted wiring to the back for a crane stock (as how you *should* be wiring it), then it doesn't matter you get front or rear power. Also note, that the latter may, OR MAY NOT have a full cylinder. I'm not sure why Systema made this decision, but I've seen gearboxes with both full cylinders as well as rear cylinders for an A2/SR16 setup. Make sure you have the right cylinder in there when you receive it (fyi, I've seen more ported cylinders than non-ported in those gearboxes.) |
