Tokyo Marui G18c FPS upgrades?
hi guys i am thinking of purchasing a tm g18c and i was wondering if there are any ways to up the fps?its around 275 stock is that good enough for a pistol? i was thinking more like 300-320?
I would also like to put on a metal slide. is there anything i would need along with the slide for maximum preformance? |

upgraded recoil rod and recoil spring
upgraded nozzle upgraded steel sights tightbore inner barrel if you go with upgraded release valves it may get you more FPS, but it's an expensive upgrade if you have lots of mags. if you are planning to rock a silencer or threaded barrel, you should consider increasing the barrel length, that will get you the biggest increase for FPS. most GBB pistols will be around the 300FPS mark. Even stock, the G18c should be close to that. |

not much point in going over that with a pistol anyways, pistols are generally used at such close engagement ranges that if the guy you are shooting at can matrix out of the way of you spraying a burst from a g18, hes not human

well there are a few local retailers that carry some of that stuff.
http://www.airsoftparts.ca carries most of that stuff, and it's in country already so you won't have to wait weeks to get your parts. And illusion, here on the forums sells a bunch of TM parts that would work, he can also do some custom orders if you can't find what you need. Or you can try international retailers... red wolf is popular, and so is WGC shop and E hobby. There are tons of stores that carry all that stuff, it's all fairly common. You just have to do a little bit of research to find out if some parts might be better than others. Most of the shops all sell the same stuff and all for around the same price. Some brands are better than others. Some cost a lot more than others. I am currently using an aluminum Shooter's Design slide on my G17 with an extended inner barrel and threaded outer barrel. It works great but it took a bit of work to make it cycle nicely. Some slides work great out of the box, some require a bit of work to make it work better. If you use duster gas, you'll shoot 270 FPS, if you use propane you'll get closer to 300 FPS, but if you're using propane you will want to upgrade the slide so it doesn't crack. Upgrade the loading nozzle for the added strain and power output, and same with the steel sights. The sights are used to hold the blowback unit in place in the slide, and the added power of the propane will cause it to break, so you need to put something in there that's going to withstand the pressures of a propane powered gun. |

Yes propane gets you to around 300fps....Duster gas on the other hand will have you shooting in the 210-220fps range. My TM g18c, on duster shoots about 217fps on duster |

There was a write up a while ago that took a look at various FPS and distances to relate them to chances of hitting/missing due to your target "seeing" and moving out of the way. Worked in brain processing time and physical reaction time.
Long and short of it is...at across the big room distances, FPS really doesn't matter. Certainly 20-30fps isn't going to matter. Outdoors at mid AEG range...yup, starts to matter. At long range...an increase in FPS has less of an effect than at mid range...'cause of distance and the fact that are regular games the shots are still not going very fast. |

I'm not sure the exact length either but looks like 500mm.
I've got 5ku steel sights for my G17 you should be able to find those on a few sights. Got mine from ebairsoft. |
