If you're talking Vietnam style 20rd 5.56mm mags do what every GI did. You have the 30rd M1956 small arms ammo pouch (made for M14 or M2 mags) but put a GI sock in the bottom length-ways. Your 20rds mags sit on the sock and every time you stopped on patrol you changed your socks anyways. Easy, tactical and historically accurate
