Can I do this or not?
Hello everyone
Some stupid, crazy idea came into my mind this morning. I dont know if you ever have this idea... If I CANT import a gun into canada, can I order a gun on website (from Asia usually), tell them to ship everything but the receivers and suppressor. Buy the receivers and suppressor in local store, reassemble the gun? (based on I read on FAQ, those two are the only thing I know that cannot enter canada, if there is more, please remind me) I told my friend who played airsoft here for a couple of years and he said he heard someone did it before but not personally done it. so I just wonder if this plan works or not. thanks |

Why bother to do that when you can just buy whatever you want here...
You're verified. |

yea, but the cost of the receiver in canada is gonna outweigh the cost of buying outside of asia anyways. Depending on the gun. Easier bet is to buy in canada.

+1, most of these creative loopholes to get around buying in Canada always cost more in time or money. In this case both. Just buy whatever you want in country.

It sucks ass that the US has a better selection and cheaper prices on Airsoft guns (see SHOT Show) but we just have to deal with what we got. Buying here is so much easier. I love being able to walk into a shop and try out anything i want before i buy it. I hate buying something without seeing it or trying it on first.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
You *could* buy all the parts needed except receiver which you purchase in country. BUT how much time and money are you willing to invest? ie. Why would you buy a JG or something and put that into a G&P metal body? If you were say going to buy a SystemA Magnum/Revolution/Energy gearbox or something and put that in a G&P body it's probably slightly more worth the time and money but you still have the problem of other external parts like stock, rails, grip etc. SystemA REVOLUTION drop in gearbox ~$450-500 USD G&P Receiver in Canada ~$200-250 (average price I've observed) Other parts ~$500 If you tally it up it easily goes way past the $1000 mark for parts alone. Now how much is your time worth to you? Would you rather watch the hockey game, have sex with your wife/girlfriend/mistress/friend with benefit, or do something else more productive than assembling a gun (granted I'm not sure how long it would be to put this together, but for a first timer it usually takes 3x at long to do something like this than someone who's done it a few times, based on my experiences with assembling computers).

let me answer your question... YES you can do that, but we don't recommend it.
WHY? because its risky and will cost you a lot of money. Your verified, why even bother!

read his sig, he's obviously cheap and incapable of finding the events section or a local board, y'all surprised?
this has been discussed a million times, the price of guns is alot better today than it was before, with access to the AV section you can get a gun in your pricerange, and buy the upgrades you want overseas quite easily and on your own timeline/budget

shipping what u like to the US would be a good choice!( if you ve got a buddy who has a permanent residential address there).
then bring them back at an appropriate time. basically thats most cragslist gun sellers do. Last edited by sortie39; January 22nd, 2011 at 13:52.. |
