Different kinds of silencers/suppressors : impact?

Hi all,

I was looking at the all the different silencers on ehobbyasia (just a reference to see a wide choice).

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/accessori...ers/index.html

Beside buying a CW vs CCW and the right diameter, I was wondering what is important in buying a quality silencer. There are so many of them that I wouldn't know which to buy if I could. Some are as low as 15US$ and others go up to 60-70US$. Are there any brands to avoid?

I just need some advices on what to look for in buying a good silencer (one that will provide some silencing effect).

From What I hear TM is the only brand with good sound reduction. I got a G&P that really quiets the 'snap' from the muzzle, but I can always hear it (being right next to the gun).
If its for silencing the gun itself, you'll need either TM or a combo of Sorbo pads and a silencer. From what I hear Sorbo pads make most guns sound pretty soft by themselves. If your not extending the barrel then check it out.

on a recent thread about silencers someone was talking about having a slightly extended barrel in a 200MM silencer, would that still provide decent muffleing of the snap or do you have to buy one kind for silencing and another for hiding a barrel

If you extend the inner barrel all the way to the tip of the silencer you wont get any sound muffled.
