Keep in mind, since you did not complete your profile and nobody reads minds.... there are many places that ban the use of lasers.
It would be good to check before you spend the cash.

+1 For what Grey said, especially with green lasers.

Yes he means fields and organizers.

The stuff coming out of China is not rated properly most times, are way more powerful than they indicate, and are pumping out unfocussed IR.

I've tested the things with my NV gear and they WASH the whole fucking room with IR at an intensity that will cause damage to the eye.

What is the IR output level that is considered safe?

Is there is a way to determine if a laser is operating at the output that is advertised?

There are different opinions, but most agree it's not so much the wattage as it is the lack of blink response with IR exposure.

Most measuring equipment is lab quality, specialized and expensive. Those that are not are inaccurate, if you can find them.

The nutshell answer? Unless you have a full lab to test them, NO laser can be considered safe for everyone. Period.

The complicated answers involve energy output and medical (visual) conditions that can greatly aggravate exposure levels.

My opinion? My eyesight is not worth anyone's idea of a cool toy.
