GBB mags in the fridge?

My appartement has an average temperature of 30 celcius, ranging from 28 during the night to sometimes 36 or 38 during the day if I'm not there (which means the window is closed).

During the winter, I didn't have a single problem with my GBB mags leaking. Now, all my mags leak... I did leave them with gas (and AI silicon oil of course) inside, but I suspect the heat dried the orings.

Would storing them in the fridge at about 2-3 celcius be a possible solution?

I'd say you'd have better luck with something like a cigar box or something.

I'm thinking it would be the increase in pressure, not the orings drying out.

Yes, gas is heated = pressure
gas is cooled = vaccum

I wouldn't say vacuum necessarily. But yeah, basically a heated gas will provide more kinetic energy to the molecules, thus increasing pressure. Cooled gas will decrease kinetic energy and decrease pressure.

Talking about -273.15 degree Celisus? its a lil hard to get that cold... certain laser maybe but not cheap.

If you leave in fridge keep in mind you might want to store more gas to compensate for increase space.

hehehe sorry.....was kinda over the top with that one....

I just meant that when let's say air is cooled, the little molecules want to get closer together for body heat.....I'm sure they just wanna be held too.

When air is heated, it's like the molecules are trying to cuddle after having sex in 39C weather.

Don't recommend storing in the fridge. The cold will cause the orings and seals to shrink and harden(temporarily) which will also promote leaks.

How much gas are you storing them with? All you need is a 1 second fill on an empty mag. Open them up and give the main seal a silly oil bath to swell them up real good. Reinstall and give it a short fill. Worse case, blue gasket the main seal. I'm assuming it's not leaking out the valves.

How about keeping it simple?

As temps decreases, gas volume/internal outward pressure decreases.

As temps increase, gas volume/internal outward pressure increases.

when i have 'leaky' mags i put them in a plastic bag, give them a good spray of silicone (and some extra for 'good luck') tie up the bag (to keep in that silicone-goodness) and leave be for a few days, that usually gives them a good coating without the 'dipping' that i used to give them..

also, use the DIY-gasket silicone to seal the major loss-routes..

i have WA SV magazines and they have one point that usually pisses gas if they're not babied but after a good treatment with the gasket kit they're better then new.

EDIT: Also, +1 on the 'never leave your magazines empty'

May I suggest on the ground in a dark closet that does not have the sun beating on its door. That may help a little bit.

I'm pretty sure prison cells are bigger than my appartement...

So I take the fridge is not a good idea... Then I'll try doc's idea I guess.

Empty your mags completely, and pressurize them WITHOUT turning the tank upside down. This ensures that only vapor is going into the mags, and will rest at a much lower pressure. All you want is there to be a little greater pressure inside the mag than atmosphere, so the seals stay closed thus not drying out. Try it.

AWESOME!!! Thanks for the info. I think the guy that sold me the GBB MP5K filled it with duster gas for storing, would that probably be better?
