Yes it is VFC. G&P is another good brand and has realistic trades unlike the CA.(if that matters to you) Both the VFC and G&P need the opening for the barrel widened somewhat to fit over the PTW's wide barrel (as much as 4mm I've read) I just filed mine until it fit.
You have to be aware that with the CA M203's there is no forward barrel attachment included with them. That part has to be bought separately!! I would either wait and get a G&P or VFC through a group order. It'll be cheaper than the CA and better quality too. (I have a G&P one on the way I ordered back in Feb. before the VFC came available and if my friend doesn't want it it'll be going up for sale.) Like KOS said, unless you get the Challenge Kit (either max or gen3) it will have the Systema logo on it. I have read of sandblasting off the systema markings to allow you to start from scratch but that's quite the job. |

thanks branson,
is there a forward attachment in the market that fits the PTW and the VFC M203? I've gone through filing a bayonet to fit the Marushin M1 Garand and having to file it sometimes doesn't offer a wobble-free fit. |

The forward attachment on the VFC fits fine. It's the rear "bracket" opening that slides over the barrel that needs the gap widened.

i see, and i guess that bracket is built as part of the m203 itself instead of being a separate piece...

and it would seem that it is the M203 that has the narrow bracket, not the PTW having the wide barrel...

oh yeah, redwolf says that if you order the M203 for the M4, you need to by a delta ring system...does this apply to the PTW?

Get an RAS and get the rail-mounted launcher you want. That's how the U.S. military does it now (no more barrel-mounted launchers for the new guys). All their guns come as a package from FN, Colt, whoever with an RAS (ARMS or KAC), then you don't need to worry about carving, filing or Dremeling.

Later this evening I will post a photo of what has to be filed. (which, by the way, took me maybe 10 minutes to do) Last edited by SBranson23; May 10th, 2007 at 18:49.. |

Having had a barrel-mounted M203 on my M16A3 when I bought it, there was some modification that was done, but it was done for a different gun. When the presvious owner tried to install it on the M16, the opening was too large by alot and only big Tie-Wraps could be use to secure it to the barrel.
The rear barrel nut was of no consequence, nor was the delta ring. The heatshield I had on it was a Bushmaster (real steel), and it fit like a glove into the PTW. There was no need to remove either.

RAS setups that use a screw on barrel nut (such as free floating RAS systems on an SPR or SR-15 match system) will not work, as the RAS does not seperate, providing lower access to the barrel: Not only does the RAS not seperate on a lot of these free-floating setups, but the barrels are straight all the way through, rather than stepped or gradiated like the M4 barrels that allow you to slide an M203 on. PS, it's common courtesy to just edit your last post and add new stuff on there, rather than post a string of posts one after another.

apologies for my lack of manners, i will keep that in mind in the future.
can someone please show me pictures that differentiate the barrel vs. rail-mounted launcher? I am pretty sure I am looking for the barrel mount version. Thanks! |

Barrel mounted see mine and Illusion's
Rail mounted: Also here's the gap that needs to be filed to fit over the PTW barrel.(red arrows) The blue arrow shows the "pin" that locks into the barrel nut and eliminates rotation. I did find a small piece of electricians tape in the opening and in the front bracket helped to hold everything just a little firmer. It's bombproof now. sorry for the crappy pic.
