Performance:
With hop-up adjusted to shoot KSC Perfect 0.25g BBs straight, a KSC Perfect 0.20g BB will chrony at around 387fps, +/-2fps

Yup, like Ronan said, a press of the button will release the scope cover. It makes things a bit easier by unifying the direction you press to open up the scope: Push the red button forward, and the rear scope cover pops backwards and up. Push the nub of the front scope cover forward as well, and it pops forwards and up.

With hop up off, it shoots about 400fps, +/-2fps

I'd guess the small rail is to atach a backup sight, like a small Doctor red dot.
Or it could be there because otherwise, it would be lost space.

Not likely for a back-up sight as 1- Sight would be obstructed by the main rail/chassis and everything on it 2- The sight would be directly in line with your shoulder instead of your face. Most likely to be the second option, had space to put rails, so they did... hehe
