Um, take a picture of what's left of the bottle. I find it pretty surprising that the bottle exploded or even propelled itself. A stuck open bottle with an intentionally ignited stream should just belch a sustained flare. Not much of the heat would radiate back to the bottle as the flame jet would be away from the bottle. Also, the rapidly evaporating propane would also cool the bottle pretty fast which would rapidly drop the tank pressure. There's no oxygen in a propane bottle so the flame can't rush back into the bottle and blow it up. No oxygen, no combustion inside the bottle.

ive always had this problem with mine, i thought it was just "one of those things" i actually found that the spring unwound itself when you were screwing the adapter on and caused the problem, i cut and rebent my spring and havent had a problem since.

I read this and got worried a while back. I just bought the tall blue cans of propane meant for cutting purposes. Made by Mastercraft, I believe. No problems there.

Sure, I'll root through the scrap metal bin and find the pieces. It basically split at the seam in the middle. The fence can be taken apart by hand, it wasn't well built. The bottle knocked some of the boards off when it hit (not very hard). It was pretty funny though. I think next I'll see if the adapter on a bad bottle would make a good mini tiger torch. I've already used it to reseat tire beads while out 4x4ing

One last time, DON'T DO THIS on your own. If you have to think twice about it, put the stuff down and back away.

I can't seem to find the ozark trail propane on walmart shelves. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough but however, their site advertises bernzomatic propane bottles but are they problematic too?

It's found in the camping/sporting goods section.

ill be sure to look for it there as i found the coleman bottles but not ozark. Do bernzomatic propane bottles work too?

I went to walmart recently for some propane.
I just noticed my bottle of Coleman propane is labeled 062206 12:33.
Is there any problems I should be aware of. I dont want my propane can to explode like how IBBY talked about.

Since my can is not the 05xxxx version should I be worried about anything?

Well Ibby intentionally lit his on fire so I don't think there should be a problem, just test it outside with gloves on (incase the bottle vents it wont give you frost bite.)

I recently bought a 3 pack of what I thought where coleman tanks and just now realized their Ozark Trail...the Canadian Tire changed which brand they carried and I never noticed because their identical other than the label.
