Barrel length doesn't make a big difference. So yes, any AEG can be good for long range.

Depends partially on the brand of MP5. A G&G MP5 would be better then no name MP5. I like the MP5 for indoor and CQB environments. I do see people use them outdoors though. In terms of modifying it to shoot further (and more consistintley) it depends on the type of MP5 it is. Ive seen some nicely upgraded MP5's that people used outdoors and had good accuracy and range. Some brands have a wider range of parts available and are able to be take being upgraded better. Cheaper and low quality brands arn't usually compatible with most of the parts out their and are probably gonna break quicker.

i used a cyma mp5 as my primary for outdoors for a year and had great range and had no problems with range. recently i upgraded to a 300mm length barrel and put a silencer over it just for a little increase accuracy.

yea for sure i own an Aftermath Lyacaon and when i got it stock it was amazing that a gun for 99$ can actually keep its accuracy at 100-150 feet. And now that im practically done upgrading it i can only use an S90 to keep its FPS at 350-360 with .2s. the only thing left to change on the gun from it being stock is the barrel if you want a list of upgrades i used just ask.
to be honest i only got this gun for the price (not a big fan of mp5's) but im actually starting to get a feel for it. |

My lightly upgraded TM MP5A5 would put 0.28g BBs out to 200ft easily, so yes.

Stock ICS MP5A5 works just fine for me outdoors. If you like it, run it.

Used a G&G MP5A4 at an outdoor Mil-Sim this past summer. It was my first airsoft game I'd ever played and it did fine. Might not be so good for longer open areas but that's what the guys with the M16s / M14s in my group were for.
