removing bushing, so I could put new ones in!..
So I've try searching in the doctor section, but no luck finding my answer.
Today I got some new systema ones(oooo). Anyways, I took my lower gearbox apart(first time ever) and notice that the stock bushing weren't coming off as I thought... I use an ICS M4... I know I've been asking a lot of question about this gun, but I really don't have the money to screw things up. Anyways, my question is, does anyone know how to remove the bushing? I'm having major issue with it. Another thing, do I need to use grease to grease up the bushings? Thanks. |

gently hammer it out from the outside.
For the ones on the selector plate side, if they don't fall off easily, take off the selector plate and then hammer. |

I use a broad head punch if they're being REALLY troublesome... place it on there, and give it a light tap with a rubber mallet

I like to hold it in my palm and tap it with a hammer, or a needle-nose plier if you do not ever plan to use those bushings agian.

pencil eraser
Before I got the right tool. (modify bushing removal tool) I used the end of a pencil with the erasure on it. I would tap it with a hammer and the rubber end would push em out.
I like the tool much better.

So after I got the bushing out, I couldn't push the new ones back into the holes...
So I used a large six sided screw driver and hammer the new bushing in.... After all the trouble, I put my gun back together and I've notice something different... Whenever I shot semi, the noise is a lot higher pitch, sounds a lot higher than my old bushing? Maybe I did something wrong?... Maybe I didn't hammer the bushing in far enough?... Anyone know why? |

you probably scratched your bushings quite badly. Did you re-shim it properly also?

What does re-shim mean? And what's the worse thing that could happen if my bush isn't install right?
Also, Side question... I use an older charger... It lights up red when charging, it'll change to green when finish charging, but it won't stop charging though... Ok, my old battery is 8.4V 1100mAh, where as my new one is 9.6v 2200 mAh... The charger says output 5-12v at 600 mah... What's happening is when I plug in the new battery the light flash from red to green, anyone know what's going on? Last edited by highny; September 22nd, 2009 at 23:18.. |

........
when you install new bushings you need to re-position the washers on the top and bottom of your gears to achieve ideal spacing. |

reshiming is putting shims in between your gears (resting on bushings at both ends). Your gears should try to move freely without "play" at either sides. In this way, your gears would only crank the resistance of the spring when installed. Try to search for shimming guides. Check your battery also.

Now that I puzzled the top back onto my gun, the sound from the bottom receiver seems to be less nosy... Maybe it's just me over thinking things... Last edited by highny; September 23rd, 2009 at 00:06.. |

ICS also has a different inner and outer diameter to their bushings. Most bushings will not fit properly unless you get ones specifically made for ICS, then you'd also have to match the axles of the gears.
Search around a little, there's quite a few older posts about the size difference.
