Thanks guys for the input. I'll definitely look into both of those things. I've only ever opened up old plastic gearboxes, and at this point I don't trust myself to be tinkering around with a brand new metal one. If I do decide to upgrade the spring I'll buy whatever is needed and take it to a shop to get it done.
