I think he wants to open the silencer and drop washers into it to keep the inner barrel centered.
IMO, not needed. Lots of people run AEG's with inner barrels that stick into their silencers. Inner will just float in the silencer.
A longer inner on a pistol is kind of pointless since you'll never be able to do a quick disconnect and run without the silencer. You are stuck with it on which defeats the purpose of a small compact weapon. You'd be better off just getting a tightbore for the current length and be done with it.
