1) Yes, it can handle springs that heavy and much heavier
2) I wouldn't consider the Modify gear sets to be "modular" (since they're locked in... get it?), but I actually don't know the answer to that. I've never handled the Modify gear sets before. The inside of the gearbox is very spacious though, so it's possible.
3) The 7mm version uses proprietary pistons and you'd have to do fairly extensive modifications to fit another piston to fit.
