The biggest risk I'd pin on buying a VFC, and most likely the others is spare parts availability. I'm on the hunt for another hopup chamber so if I want to swap in the short barrel (not on the field though) it's not a total swearing session. It's like having an Italian motorcycle or J-Spec car, you're not finding parts at the corner 7-11.
