Honestly I don't think it really matters. Is your skin hard enough to break a bb? No, infact I find it hard to believe a bb would deform at all upon hitting something as soft as skin. The radio in your pack, gun or helmet maybe. But in order for an aluminum BB to break an object upon hitting it, the object would have to be VERY brittle, like a thin sheet of glass or 40 year or thin piece of plastc.
Theres a good chance that an aluminum BB would have better odds of piercing through low end goggles (like classic army goggles), but what fool entrusts the safety of his only two eyes to a pair of low end goggles??
I still stand by the fact we should do testing on the matter, but I really don't think the results are going to be much different. The only test that has been performed so far was a single uncontrolled test with no actual definitive conclusions.
