Pics coming. The mechbox was in amazingly good condition. A set of bushings and a piston is all it needs to run again. I took pictures of the autopsy, I will post them later today.
I did this because so many noobs (self included) hook bigger batteries to airguns in hopes of better performance. All it does is make the motor run faster.
The OA93 pistol had a stock mechbox in it for construction purposes. I have a hot-rodded one going together for it, so I thought why not show how well the "metal gearbox" in the current crop of MPEG's hold up.
I have lots of parts on hand (I have over 30 personal guns, in addition to building the 1919's, M2's, Stingers, and running a Chinese M14 clone parts business), So chewing a piston for the sake of illustration was good math.
I have to hand it to the cloners...a minute and a half of continuous operation at nearly double the stock voltage (12.89volts on my old Beckman meter) is impressive alone. The fact that it can be fixed with $30 in parts shows how far we've come.
