There is a glaring issue that I didn't see earlier as my M249 was in pieces and that is the fact that the rear of the receiver is slanted, causing the stock to angle downwards at approx. 20 degrees. The possible remedy for this would be to cut the rear of the buffer tube at an angle so that the stock would end up straight.
