I'm positive that replacing your cylinder with the proper one will remedy your FPS problems. Right now, the only power that the BB is having applied to it is from the BEGINNING of the piston cycle. With a longer barrel, the BB has a longer period of time to accelerate; similarly, with the proper cylinder, the piston has time to accelerate, and it starts pushing the BB at say 2/3 of the way through, leading to a smaller but much more powerful volume of air.
