I thought about that as a first design, but if the the plexiglass somehow comes loose while running around in a game and your gun gets knocked around, then it would totally defeat the purpose. That's why I chose to the current design.

If I get enough interest here, I'll let my friend know. (He won't charge much for it, I would imagine to be ~$10) The only problem is that to make a snuggly hood cover, he's going to need measurement on the optic. Most of the people on here seems to use the 40mm with a few 50mm, but the outside measurement could differ a bit from brand to brand.
