If the air nozzle is just .010" too long it can cause serious feeding issues. I wouldn't expect most people to be able to see that small of a difference.
Also I think there was some issue with the guarder plates, either angled front or too thick in the front.
Make sure the air nozzle moves back and forth freely, and did you change the hop rubber?
