VLTOR side mount bipod

I just bought a set of VLTOR Tango Down side mount bipod.
Its the airsoft knock off as opposed to the real steel counterpart.
I mounted both and noticed immediately that it wasn't a proper fit, the metal that houses the bearings on the left side must have been put in the wrong way at the factory.
I disassembled it and found it to be normal, aside from the bearings being out of whack.

I'm normally pretty handy to fix my parts.
I began filing down contact points, altering the rail and I'm considering taking a heat gun and forming the problematic arm.
I'm considering just going to the retailer and asking to see another set before I buy again, due to altering it I cant return it.

Has anyone encountered this?
If so how did you approach fixing it?
