Droc, Honza, other guys, 15 years ago, I played paintball and masks were not enforced so I never bothered. I never took one in the mouth, didnt think it was a big deal. Probably would have been a battle scar if I did.
Now, I have a mortgage, bills and a couple other hobbies I try to do justice to (including now airsoft, just starting out). I have a responsibility to my career to look professional, and the $1200 I have already paid out of pocket for a ceramic crown to fix something else I did when I should have listened to common sense is enough, lesson learned. Money like that would be better spent on new AEGs or a holiday to Mexico. My choice is not motivated by fear or opinion - just the facts.
In other sports with similar risk of tooth loss, masks and mouth gaurds are mandated. Well, except the NHL. However, If I got paid 1.2 million dollars a season to entertain you with airsoft, I'd play with my shirt off and skulls painted on my chest... but I digress.
