R-hop is the plain black material, it's the original material HS5 used. it doesn't like colder temps, so in canada we use the revised IR-hop material.
ER hop is an extended hopup patch (can be original R or IR material), this one requires extensive modification of your barrel window by cutting it larger, and the hopup nub arm and window also by cutting it larger.. ER hop is usually reserved for bolt rifles shooting 500+ fps lifting .4s or heavier ammo, the hardcore guys who use ERhops are shooting steel ball bearings in the states. I don't believe they shoot steel in games, just for target shooting.
you CAN use ER hop for lesser FPS BASRs, but you won't see results unless you start using really heavy rounds.
