I also don't get where the idea that the Kriss will disappear comes from: they're terminating their "exclusive trademark licensing with KWA" not discontinuing the airsoft Kriss. All that says its KWA will no longer be the exclusive trademark licensee; they may even continue producing licensed products alongside other manufacturers for all we know.
Personally I half expect this results from a licensing agreement with Cybergun (or maybe even Umarex if they decide to produce a 4.5mm BB version) which would increase distribution significantly compared to KWA alone. And while KWA may have produced a succesful GBB version (which is what KWA is known for) someone else may be doing the AEG version.

You haven't read all the way....
This termination affects all current and future KRISS airsoft projects, including the popular KRISS Vector SMG GBB and upcoming AEG version.
KRISS Arms will also be actively pursuing any infringements of its patents and trademarks worldwide, including unauthorized manufacturing and distribution of KRISS product replicas.
As part of its strong commitment and support to the Milsim and professional training community, KRISS Arms will be seeking for new innovative partners in the airsoft industry to market its current and upcoming airsoft products.
