I suppose I was lucky when I scored my VFC SCAR-L brand new on a Canadian website for 350 dollars. It usually retails around here for ~ $480. Isn't Cyber Monday great?

Just from firing the gun, you can tell that it has a metal piston head. The SCAR-H most likely has a metal piston head, too. That's probably not good for the V2 gearbox. A sorbo pad or changing it to some polymer piston head would be good preventative maintenance
