I use the TCD version with a 9.6V 1700mAh battery pack and it's more than enough to last me through a game or two. Convenient to be able to remove the battery pack for recharging but the plastic mount is weak for gaming. Had to glue the mount back once and replace the clamping rail because it cracked in half. I still would go for a smaller unit like this than one that can handle sub-C size batteries.
