Maybe it wasn't 1 foot, but it had to be at least 6". Could have been error on my part. I only shot 4-5 mags worth of BBs, so I'll see how it performs in the future.

If your shot ends up 6" from the spot you originally wanted to hit, its more than likely user error. Like Brian said, at a distance of 20 feet you shouldn't find much deviation at all.
