With an AR platform, your magazine is protruding from your gun, away from the gear on your chest. Whether it be a chest rig, your clothes, sling, headphones, bling-necklace, or 8-bit radio... It's out of the way.

Bullpups, I've found, tend to be right up close and like to snuggle with my wires, and eat my jacket every time I go to reload.

I'm not a sloppy guy, I keep my gear together, but I find bullpups (my experience was with a TAVOR) just like to snack on your gear while they are hungry for magazines and won't let the ammo train come into the station. The only way I'd find to remedy this, is to put my barrel into the air to expose the magazine well, LOOK DOWN at it, then ram the magazine home. I realize that with practice I would get it... but I still have to take my barrel off of target.

That being said, they have obvious advantages such as keeping the weight closer to your body, and maintaining a smaller profile with a longer barrel... and these are nice things... but I find I just love the AR series.

AK's are nice too, but in airsoft, their mags size is ridiculous.
When you say ridiculous, do you mean extremely big or small ?
