Also, not everyone has the money to play at fields, entrance costs money that some people just don't have.
If my backyard was big enough I would play there, however it's not. So I play on land that friends of mine own. We are responsible and take every safety precaution. More so than any field would I'm sure.
I think it's a question of maturity, NOT age.

Yes you are out of place,
Airsoft isn't dying, we get alot of new 18+ players coming out to games every week.
It is a question of legal responsibility, a minor cannot be held legally responsible for his actions, a minor (in Ontario) cannot legally own an airsoft gun.
But of course, a paintballer that just showed up here knows more about airsoft than the rest of us, so do carry on
