I can't really help you with the radios, but for the throat mics, unless you buy a good one (I still don't really know what that means), you'll have trouble understanding the guy talking. We played last Saturday, and one of our guys had a throat mic. It made is voice sound all monotone and it flattened everything down so it was hard to distinguish words. Imagine a trucker mumbling onto his radio, and I think you'll get the picture.
