You need to drybrush to accent with a darker colour.

The issue with spray on low quality plastic is that it gives a flat, one piece appearance.

You need to give the look of spaces and lines, like where the upper receiver meets the handguard, where the two receiver halves meet, etc.

Give it a shot, you won't regret it.

That being said, it's much better than squeenix's. Surprise, surprise.
