Yeah, he's holding it "Costa" style. In the real steel world, there are two camps for this style, but I think the con camp is bigger than the pro camp. Some describe it as "an ape trying to shoot a rifle".
The theory is the more forward you place your support grip the less overswing you'll have when switching targets... whatever, I'm not a fan of it.
