Ideally if your not dealing with any magnification you should have both eyes open.

This can easily turn into the Eotech vs Aimpoint debate, but let me share my experience with both sights on real and airsoft.

For airsoft accuracy is going to be far less than real steal, but at close ranges (withing AEG distance) its not a huge deal. This is why I prefer the Eotech. I like the 45 MOA circle around the dot to allow quicker target aquisition.

The Aimpoint has a much better life span (again the real deal)

If you dont need any NV settings you should be able to find one for 300ish, but it will be a bit of a hunt.

Both of these units can come with a flip down 4X magnification so you get the best of both worlds. But just like Danke said, its much easier to co witness your irons with the Eotech.
