Battery life.
 

Received my first ever airsoft gun today! Velocity Arms Custom V4 S- system. How long can I expect my battery to last? Web site says it comes with "Mini 8.4v 1100mAh". The only numbers I can see on mine is "1.2V 2/3A size 1100mAh". What does all this mean? Should this be my first upgrade? How big can I go?

1.2V is the voltage on each cell, and there are 7 cells in an 8.4V mini.

That battery should last a pretty good while on that gun as long as you keep it stock. But getting a stronger battery (or at least a second battery) is always good idea.

I would suggest using the gun before you "upgrade" anything. If you enjoy tinkering, by all means, dive in: Starting with a whole wack of reading.

The individual cells of the battery are 1.2v each, in series 7 of the cells makes 8.4v. Each cell has 1100mah discharge rate.

If you gun shoots fine with 8.4v mini, you should just buy another 8.4v mini, as they tend to drain to the point of inefficiency after 700 rounds or so is my experience with them.

Don't upgrade unless you know what you want. If you're going to upgrade for the heck of it thats actually discouraged since you can do more damage especially if you're inexperienced. Get a gundoc to walk you through it but for the most part don't upgrade until you get a feel for the gun and have a specific goal in mind.

The battery will last you about 1100 shots give or take.

The numbers and stuff on the battery means:

1.2v cells (7 of them to get 8.4V) using 2/3A size cells with 1100 milliamperes of current.

Buy 1 or 2 more mini 8.4V batteries for the day and you should be good to go. If you have a wall charger that came with your package that goes in the garbage and you should get a proper charger to condition your batteries and keep them in tip top shape.

might want to get a trickle charger. those have a proper way of charging NiMh batteries.

All depends how you shoot really.

I've loaned my AKM to a friend, and he ran out of battery juice on an 8.4 1600 batt fully charged.
I've never ran out of juice same battery, fully charged as well.

Hey how long do you charge the battery for? the one that comes with the gun!
