RIS for ICS
 

Hey everybody.
So I got an ICS M4A1 from Divine arms back in the summer and am now looking at upgrading it externally.
First thing I want to do is an RIS and PEQ2 box. Been looking around, seen Mach1 Airsoft has the ICS RIS, but also seen that Capital Airsoft has a DBoys RIS for like $60 instead of $140...
Now from what I'm hearing, TM and ICS aren't compatible, but other people are saying they are...
What's your advice on an RIS?

From my personal experience only an ICS RIS will fit. I have a huang brand RIS and it didnt fit mine without extensive modification (Dremel and vice clamp), Its not very solid and moves quite a bit so ill be moving to an ICS made one.

I've got a shortened CQB M4 ICS with the Full Metal BICASV Rail System for M4 as 007 airsoft has at http://www.007airsoft.com/products/htm/metalparts.htm and it rocks heavy and solid.

I'm very happy with it.

Well saberwing, i dont know you that well, so i dont know what you want with the RIS or what your application is, but allot of people say just to fix rails to the normal hand guard

It doesn't hurt for you to surf ebay. Most airsoft sellers based in China have these at a great price. I got my RIS set for $65 Canadian, including shipping. This RIS set also came with "heat-shields", which add a nice touch.

He's looking for a specific type, for an ICS, not just any old RIS...

The bodies on ICS guns are threaded funny. It's very hard to get non-ICS delta rings to fit ICS bodies. Many people have done it but they'll tell you it took some modification and in some cases it's permanent. I know the guy I sold my ICS to practically forced his delta ring to screw on and it's VERY stuck now.

Too me 4 hours, a bench vise, 4 cutting disk for my dremel tool, sading paper from 60 to 400 grit, file and deburing disk.

I modified the ICS body itself to accept the mainstream RIS. The one I installed was a Madbull Noveske 10". I used a steel rod and forced the last turn on to make it tight.

The thing is that ICS' treading are conical. Just like brass plumbing, they are made to become tighter and tighter.

Most bodies are just a regular tread, be it metric or standard. The ICS one is based on metric treadings.

You can probably buy the metric re-treader from Madbull and clean the treads that way. I had to make them deeper with the cutting disks, then sand the now sharp edge to prevent damage to the ring nut.

Tried the MB rethreading tool this past weekend on MrEvolution's ICS...forget it.

Stick with an ICS RIS kit...unless you want to fight it.

I managed to install a DBoys RIS on my ICS receiver without any issue. Also mounted my JG 416's barrel on it, and the threading was perfect. No issues whatsoever.

I installed a JG 416 front end on mine too before the mods.

Apparently that is because the tolerance for the cheapest barrel nuts are way off. It is the nut locking at the end of the treads that prevent it from unscrewing or moving.

If you can find someone that has a cheap RIS or a JG/DBoy rifle, you can try it. Ordering a "DBoy" front end on internet might not work since it is the inexactitude of the part that make it fit. You might get one that is in spec and it won't fit.

Im sorry for bringing back this thread but...did not want to start a new thread. I had a question for anyone that could tell me.

on the Full Metal ICS M4 can you install a R.I.S in place of the regular plastic foregrip and still fit the batteries in there? or will you need a PEQ2 box or something

Definatley need a battery box. No room for batteries in an RIS

You will need a PEQ2 box or re-wire it to a crane stock.
