Opinions on Ak-47
I am new to this sport and am wondering about getting an Ak-47. I am still underage so technically this is all theoretical but the players I have met have recommended an AEG as a first actually good gun. So I figured that Aks are common enough it shouldn't be too hard to find one that is decently priced and then upgrade from there. I'm just wondering what people think of the Aks and if so what kind of brands etc. I realize that it is a matter of personal preferance but I can put up with Aks having already bought a weapon of choice, my L96. (three cheers for n00b snipers) I definitely am going to start out with an AEG and then start to practice with my sniper until I get good enough to field it.
Many thanks for any and all suggestions. |
AK's are good.
Easy to find parts, solid mechbox, lots of aftermarket and generally they preform pretty well :) |

I suggest getting an Aftermath AK47 from: http://velocityarms.ca/
They have excellent customer service, and offer a package worth $290 for $245 that includes three 600 round metal AK47 mags, and 2 bags of quality bbs. I looked into the price of this combo, and it would actually be worth over $300 on some other sites. Most of the gun is metal, and the parts that aren't have a strong ABS plastic. I got this gun with the combo and I would recommend you doing the same. If you don't want to spend $245 then you could get just the gun for $185. If you are interested, there is more info on the site. |

I won't be popular for this opinion,:flame: but I had an AK47 and I didn't really like it so I sold it.
I found that compared to something like say a M4 it just wasn't as comfortable. The ergonomics of an AK are pretty primative. I also like putting all sorts of extra gadgets like scopes and lasers etc. on my guns, and the M4 platform allows the addition of these things so much more easily than on an AK47. Also I think that an AK47 look the best without a bunch of extra crap stuck on them, where as I think the M4 style guns look extra cool with a bunch of gadgets on them. Then again, it all comes down to personal preference. All purely hypothetical until your 18 anyway.... Gordo |

Are there any R.I.S.s out there for AKs I have only seen a rail attachment for the top so unless i would duct tape it on I don't know how I would attach it anyway.
