ICS C-15 (Plastic) Reciever mods
I am sure this question has been asked before, if so, I apologize.
I have just purchased the ICS C-15. It has the new clear lower receiver, and I am looking to replace it with something more desirable. Are there any solutions receiver wise? Cheers |
Get yourself verified, and look through the classifieds. They have tons of metal receivers in there.

Alright,
does the split gearbox present any compatibility issues with receivers though? |
Yes it does. You need an ICS receiver. They do pop up occasionally, but not as often as one might like.
|
you will need to buy a ics metal body, tm bodies are not compatible with ics. keep in mind that you cant import metal bodies from oversea, they will be seized. your only option to metallize your ics is to get age-verified and then you will have acess to what you want.
edit: d'oh typing too slow! |

I heard from a friend that it is the upper receiver that is hard to replace, and the lower receiver is much easier.. is this true? Beyond this, since I am focusing on upgrading the whole appearance of the rifle, how can one go about replacing fire selectors, and charging handles? However, in the mean time, how hard is it to paint the lower receiver? I am sure there has to be tutorials somewhere.. You have all been very helpful. Thanks! |
usually metal kis comes with both upper and lower ... dont know about ics but with marui its lower and upper in the same package. fire selector and charging handle should be tm compatible ,so just get some nice g&p suff and it should fit (i'm sold to g&P lol) to paint your lower just get krylon camo flat black paint... if you want to do a great job, sand the receiver with a fine grit sandpaper (like 400 or even 1000 if you have some) then clean the receiver with a cloth with a little bit of acetone on it then pain in 3 (or more) very light layers... and you'll be alright till you turn 18:D

I've never seen a complete ICS metal body (upper and lower) for sale here. Even the lowers are very rare (I think I might have seen a parts one once) just because they're a unique design (will only fit ICS mechboxes).
Painting it is not hard. If you've ever spray painted anything before it's the same concepts. Just take it all apart, mask anything you don't want paint on and go in very THIN layers. Allow the layer to dry a bit and repeat until you get probably 5-7 THIN layers on there. Follow any other directions on the can. |
