Buying an Aug

hey crazy dudes and dudets!

I'm looking into getting myself a Aug, I like the look and it seems rather reliable.
only question i must pose is, what company seems to get the job done right? (price is not much of a issue)

Styrak March 9th, 2009 14:38

TM or CA, second choice JG.

Crunchmeister March 9th, 2009 14:38

Get yourself age-verified and you'll have access to AUGs of all brands and price ranges in the classifieds and retailer sections. If price isn't much of an issue, the Classic Army is probably the better choice.

thanks

i've heard alot about the classic army AUG
i just got age verified on sunday by the BB bastard himself, hell of a nice guy.
i can't wait to be able to look on the classifieds.
it doesn't seem like alot of people use the aug, well thats just my opinion

People make the mistake of buying one only once :D

arman March 9th, 2009 15:40

loved my aug it was my first gun

Crunchmeister March 9th, 2009 15:44

I'm torn about the AUG. I have one that's been offered to me in a trade deal, but not sure I'd actually use it. I've tried them, think they look sexy as hell, but I think the mags are annoying to deal with and I'm not sure it's a gun I'd get good use out of. But man, that thing would look sexy as hell on my wall...

phantastik March 9th, 2009 15:48

anytime i see an aug all i can think of is "misbuy"

Jimski March 9th, 2009 15:59

not many people use the AUG and some parts are pretty hard to come by.
I suggest you get 2 :D

my TM shorty was a killing machine right out of the box.
However I'm working on a CA aug right now and the mechbox is so badly molded...
other parts are pre-upgraded with CA, you get a metal spring guide, metal bushings, good gears, good motor.

but TM is good too, I'd go TM+upgrades if you don't mind it being a civilian A2 ver.

the AUG mags are usable in any M4 gear, safety can be switched leftie...

the AUG doesn't have a selector plate so that is not going to break.
you can interchange barrels in 2 seconds with their system.

the AUG hates being dropped on the butt or nose, the internal buttplate screws are prone to breaking - check it when buying used !

Also the internal magwell is plastic, careless user can break it and then it misfeeds- check it when buying used !

also with this AEG, the room for the battery is limited so it's difficult to go above 2500 mAh unless you add some ugly external appendage.

being under your arm, the battery stays warm in the winter.

mags take some training, especially because you can't hold two at the same time in one hand (unless you have pretty big hands) so you have to remove the mag, dump it, and then take another and load, whereas with an m4 or mp5 I'd take a mag, remove and reload with the same hand, and then dump.

TBH I'd actually like an AUG or other bulpup (except maybe for the FAMAS just because of the older design).

It's just that for conveniences sake I got an M4 (I love it though).

I'm looking to get a PTW later down the road and maybe something more exotic as a project gun (Maybe a VSS Vintorez. My favourite gun ever).

Oh yeah from what I've heard the most reliable gun ever is the P90 because of the V6 gearbox (they apparently never die).

Amos March 9th, 2009 18:19

Bullpups are amazing.

Styrak March 9th, 2009 18:41

I wouldn't trade my TM AUG for any other gun. The stock gears finally died after I put close to 10,000 rounds through the gun at 400 FPS.

And I got the gun USED.

Also never have feeding problems and the mags are solid in the magwell with no movement because the mags are made specifically for the gun, unlike armalite mags.

Try telling that to anyone that's played with or against my aug; it's a cqb version and outperforms most standard length armalites in accuracy and all in maneuverability - this is both indoors and outdoors.

In any case - a statement like that is little more than arrogance or ignorance, most likely both.

P90s are actually awesome guns. The mags are a pain in the ass to deal with, but the gun itself is a pleasure to carry and shoot. It's got about the same barrel length as an MP5, but because of the bullpup design, it's more compact. I'd recommed it to anyone, really. It's a great CQB gun. And if you want to use it outdoors, you can easily install a longer inner barrel and hide it with a suppressor. Then you can have a carbine length inner barrel (along with its extended range and accuracy in a package the size of an MP5.

And of course, the V6 mechbox has so much metal around the nozzle that it's practically impossible to break the shell. It's also nice to work on, because all the wiring is external to the shell.

It was a counter-strike joke, forgive my nerdyness sir. aug being one slot below the much cheaper more effective M4
