What gun should I buy?

Ok, before you explode all over this thread hear me out.

I've been airsofting for several years. My kit is complete. I've had guests come to games fairly regularly this year, and it's about time that I bought a dedicated weapon for them to use, rather then having them red army with someone, or taking turns playing.
I'm not interested in specific models or brand names, I can find that out myself. My exact question is:

"If you were invited as a guest to an airsoft game, what would be the weapon of choice for you to use?"
Also, which gun would give you the best impression of airsoft (coolness is a big factor).

The demographic is 18-20 yr old. 50/50 split between gender. Little to no gaming/weapon knowledge.

Tokyo Marui M9 Chrome!!
Def. the sexiest gun in production

Well if I was invited and had no guns. I'd be thankful for anything you give me that would shoot. As long as you have fun.
I'd say the MP5. Small and mostly great for the ladies.
Kraken for the guys?

I think it would be an AK just about everyone likes AK,s.

An Ak for the middle east look, and a m4 or a mp5 for the north american look. Since the m4 and mp5 could have sliding stocks it would be good for both men and women. A PEQ that held a battery would add some wow to an m4 and still be practical as would vert grips.

m4's also tend to be the soup of airsoft (in our area anyways) so its a good gun to start them on. And if they had a sling it would make them more interested IMO since they don't need to worry about setting it down where it could potentially get damaged.

Just my .02 cents though...

Well, unless you are going to buy a full contingent of mags, and a chest rig of somekind for them to use, you should go with whatever your current platform is.

That way you can lend off a couple of mags and an old or unused rig and they are good to go.

I had a brother out to Rampant Lion in muskoka this past weekend.

He used a Kraken AK and a Chicom chest rig, with a few mags borrowed from other players.

Worked out really well.

+1 almost everybody KNOWs what an AK is.

Kraken for example is also best bang for your buck, and its 600rnd hicaps for ak's for dirt cheap.

PaCHeKo! October 6th, 2008 13:03

I also vote for an AK... Kraken should do the job!

Roughneck October 6th, 2008 13:35

M4 with a hicap.. its all a new player needs.

The Saint October 6th, 2008 13:38

Full metal and retractable stock, so probably some sort of M4. Blow them away with tacticool foregrip and RDS. Maybe a Trigger Master unit to lock automatic into 3-round burst for more "jumpy" newbies.

Donster October 6th, 2008 13:42

Mp5 or other H&K compact variants like the MC-51 or G36C. Here is why. They are compact for the ladies, look cool for the guys, and in terms of loading, they are a breeze. I think they it is simpler to load those guns as opposed to armalites because the H&K guns are ambi-mag release. At least on the guns that i just listed.

Ktown Militia October 6th, 2008 13:44

M4 or AK, look good and you can buy a decent model for a reasonable price.

Turd October 6th, 2008 13:51

close quarter styled M4 with a hi cap, tacticool for the men and small sexy for the ladies lol.

or something full metal and blowback for straight up BA'ness

fantastix October 6th, 2008 13:52

I've been tilting towards an ak74u. For practical purposes I suppose an armalite would be best, but in my experience, nothing beats the expression on someones face when you nonchalantly hand them an AK. Others I play with have been loaning out pretty much every other gun on this list too.

grantmac October 6th, 2008 18:30

I say go for something known to have a VERY tough body and ambi controls. Pretty much anything modeled after H&K would be nice, but keep in mind the MP5 slither stocks are two position; not adjustable like an M4.
AKs are nice enough but the hook-then-rotate mag attachment can be jammed by someone new to the sport, a high-cap would make that a non issue. AKs do tend to be rather heavy which from my experience would make it a turn off for smaller ladies.
I would also echo the trigger-master set to 3 round burst to keep down the spraying.
Cheers,
Grant
