Russian Loadout?
 

How does this sound for a basic russian army loadout?
OD Czech Winter parka (kind with the fur collar)
OD Bdu Pants, or Russian Tiger stipe camo pants
Generic OD Chest rig (8 ak mags)
CA slr-105 or G&G Rk103

Don't mean to be harsh, but how is this a "Russian" loadout? Nothing wrong with putting it together of course (you can kick ass wearing a Barney costume) but you can't really call this setup Russian.

If you want specifically a Russian impression, check out some great setups at Red Alliance forum, they are inexpensive for most part and let you stand out in the field among the swarms of US-themed players. If you just like the items you've mentioned in your post - get them and enjoy, but there won't me much "Russian" about it.

I see what your saying, i suppose i said russian for lack of any better specification. I basically picked it out from pictures i have seen of Russian troops in chechnya. I wasnt sure if anyone else would identify with what i tried to depict, but ill post a link to a picture of what i mean.

The Czech parka looks just like that, only its OD. I'm not going for ultimate accuracy just a resemblance, so any helpful comments would be nice

To be fair, when just starting out it's sometimes hard to know just what really IS a proper Russian loadout - I'd say it's more important to be enthusiastic and willing to learn. You can slowly gather together an authentic kit as you go along...

I myself started totally unauthentic with a Czech Army parker (very nice in the winter), OD combat trousers and a black watch cap - the only bits of my original kit that were really 'Russian' was my CYMA AK-74 and an old chest rig...That's literally all I could afford!

These days its a lot easier to get hold of authentic kit - particularly the BDUs. And the prices aren't that bad. But like any hobby, it can be as expensive as you want to make it - particularly if you get to the geardo stage and want to put together an "1984, Afghanistan theatre, VDV Recon pioneer (veteran)"! ;)

...At that point, say goodbye to the wife, kids, dog and most of your wages!

thanks for the encouraging post. Right now I'm mainly saving all my work cash for a VFC AK74m or probably more likely the Ak-74s (discounted to $365 USD on AirsoftGi). I llok forward to becoming a part of the russia/ east bloc airsoft community, and in future years plan on going ot OP Eastwind, hopefully with a more complete and accurate loadout.
